Briccotondo Piemonte Bianco DOC by Fontanafredda is a white wine from Piedmont, made from Viognier, Arneis and Chardonnay grapes. It comes from the Langa and Monferrato hills, where the vineyards are located at 200–300 metres above sea level.

In the glass, it shows an intense, bright straw-yellow colour. The nose reveals aromas of white flowers, yellow peach and honey. On the palate, it has an almost silky texture, good structure and moderate acidity.

It pairs beautifully with delicate starters, veal with tuna sauce, vegetable flan, fresh and lightly matured cheeses, vegetable risotto, tajarin with butter, baked fish and white meat.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Briccotondo Piemonte Bianco DOC is an elegant and versatile white wine by Fontanafredda, produced in Piedmont from Viognier, Arneis and Chardonnay grapes. The wine comes from the Langa and Monferrato hills, an area well suited to fresh, expressive and food-friendly white wines.

The vineyards are located at 200–300 metres above sea level with east-facing exposure. The soils are composed of Sant’Agata Fossili marl alternating with Asti sand, helping to give the wine freshness, aromatic finesse and good structure. The vines are trained using the Guyot system, with a density of 4,000 vines per hectare.

The grapes of the three varieties are delivered to the winery separately due to their different ripening periods. Some are vinified using traditional methods, while the remainder are vinified with an infusion of a few destemmed but whole grapes. The resulting wines are kept separate in stainless steel tanks at around 10 °C until the cuvée is blended, usually just before the beginning of spring.

A few weeks after the blending of the various vats, the wine is ready for bottling. The result is a fragrant, balanced and approachable Piedmontese white wine with a smooth texture and wide food-pairing potential.

In the glass, Briccotondo Piemonte Bianco DOC has an intense, brilliant straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is rich and inviting, with notes of white flowers, yellow peach and honey. On the palate, it is almost silky, with good structure and moderate acidity.

This wine pairs very well with delicate starters such as veal with tuna sauce, vegetable flan and fresh or lightly matured cheeses. It also works beautifully with creamy first courses such as vegetable risotto or tajarin with butter, as well as baked fish and white meat. It can also accompany mildly spiced Asian dishes with rice, chicken or fish, and French dishes such as quiche or chicken in sauce.
