Product detailed description
Lagrein from Zanotelli Winery is a beautiful example of what the unique terroir of the Cembra Valley in Trentino can offer.
This wine-growing region is renowned for its diverse geology and high-altitude vineyards, creating ideal conditions for cultivating traditional varieties such as Lagrein. The soils, rich in minerals and of volcanic origin, contribute to the wine’s distinctive minerality and complexity.
Lagrein is a red grape variety known for its deep ruby color and full, robust body. It captivates with its intense ruby-red hue and aromas of ripe red fruit. On the palate, it is dry, fresh, and well-balanced.
This wine pairs beautifully with red meats, game, or aged cheeses. It can be enjoyed in its youth for its freshness, or after a few years of bottle aging when its complexity becomes more pronounced.
Zanotelli’s Lagrein is an authentic expression of the Cembra Valley, where tradition and innovation go hand in hand.
Yield: 80 q/ha
Training system: Trentino pergola, at altitudes between 350 and 500 meters above sea level.
Fermentation and aging: fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in 4th–5th passage barriques for about one year, and a further 6 months of bottle aging.
Lagrein is a grape variety with medieval origins. It was introduced to Trentino from the nearby province of Bolzano, where Benedictine monks cultivated and vinified it as early as the 17th century, proudly praising its qualities.
Lagrein thrives in stony, well-drained hillside soils. The resulting wine stands out for its strong personality and has become one of the most valued and sought-after wines of Trentino.
