Grappa – authentic Italian distillate with rich history

Grappa is a traditional Italian distillate made from grape pomace left over after wine pressing, often containing a portion of grape juice. This drink is a symbol of Italian distillation tradition and offers a wide range of flavours – from fresh and delicate young grappas to complex and long-aged variants.

Types of grappa

Grappa Bianca (young grappa)

  • Aroma: Hints of vanilla, caramel, wood, spices.
  • Aging: Min. 12 months in oak barrels.

Grappa Bariccata (barrel-aged grappa)

  • Character: Rich, velvety with a delicate aromatic profile.
  • Aroma: Hints of vanilla, caramel, wood, spices.
  • Aging: Min. 12 months, of which 6 months in barrique barrels.

Grappa Riserva/Stravecchia (well-aged grappa)

  • Character: Rich, velvety with a deeper aromatic profile.

  • Aging: Min. 18 months in oak barrels.

Grappa di Monovitigno (single-varietal grappa)

  • Popular varieties: Gewürztraminer, Teroldego, Moscato, Chardonnay.
  • Style: Delicate with pronounced fruity tones.

Aromatised grappas

  • Character: Infused with herbs, fruit or honey.
  • Most popular variants: Honey grappa, chamomile infusion (Infuso di Camomilla), citrus such as Dorange.

How to best enjoy grappa?

  • Serving temperature: Young grappa at 10–12 °C, aged variants at 16–18 °C.
  • Serving: In special tulip-shaped glasses for better aroma release.
  • Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate, dried fruit or coffee.

How to choose the right grappa?

  • For beginners: We recommend the gentler Grappa Bianca.
  • For connoisseurs: Grappa Riserva with complex tones.
  • For those who enjoy sweet notes: Aromatised grappas with honey or fruit.
