Frise di grano duro are a traditional bakery product from Southern Italy, especially from the Apulia region. These crispy golden bread rings are made with durum wheat semolina, water, sourdough and salt. Baking in a wood-fired oven gives them an authentic flavour, pleasant aroma and rustic texture.

Before serving, frise are usually briefly soaked in water to soften them slightly, then topped according to taste. They are excellent with extra virgin olive oil, fresh tomatoes, oregano, basil, garlic or cheese. A simple and delicious choice for Mediterranean starters, light meals, snacks or Italian-style aperitivo.
