Briccotondo Piemonte ROSSO DOC 0,75L 13%
Product detailed description
Briccotondo Piemonte Rosso DOC is an elegant and food-friendly red wine by Fontanafredda, one of the well-known producers from Piedmont. It comes from the Monferrato Hills, where the vineyards are located at 200–300 metres above sea level with south and south-west exposure.
The soils are deep and characterised by clayey marl, with surface outcrops of sand and silt. These conditions help create a wine with freshness, structure and a clear fruit profile.
The wine is made from Dolcetto, Barbera and Pinot Noir grapes. The harvest takes place between late August and late September. Once delivered to the winery, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and transferred to stainless steel fermentation tanks, where they remain for 7 to 10 days, depending on the variety.
During fermentation, daily pumping-over is carried out, more frequently in the middle phase and then gradually reduced as the sugars are consumed. After racking, the three wines age separately in stainless steel or wood, as required. The final blending takes place in late spring.
In the glass, Briccotondo Piemonte Rosso DOC has a deep ruby red colour. The nose is complex and expressive, with aromas of cherry, ripe plum and redcurrant. On the palate, it is rich and fresh, with a full-bodied opening and well-balanced tannins.
This is a highly versatile red wine for the table. It pairs perfectly with classic Piedmontese dishes such as tajarin with meat sauce, beef braised in red wine, agnolotti del plin, vegetable soups and boiled meats. It is also a great match for international dishes such as meat paella, tapas with chorizo and jamón, French coq au vin or roast duck.
