Matteo Soria

The Soria winery today covers 40 hectares that branch out in all directions around the winery and boasts plantings with a careful selection of clones chosen from the best to transform all the characteristics of the soil into excellent grapes rich in acidity and aroma. Since the early 19th century, the first activities of the Soria winery in the field of viticulture began, led by the family of Eugenio Sorii (Matteo's great-grandfather), founder of the winery, who learned all the techniques and secrets of producing excellent grapes, a fundamental condition for obtaining excellent wine. At the beginning of the 20th century, the business was taken over by Giovanni Soria (Matteo's grandfather), whom the family helped to increase the production of bottled wine and purchase new lands in San Martino. In the 70s and 80s, Sergio (Matteo's father), who had completed his studies in oenology, joined Giovanni in managing the business and learned from his father all the techniques of vineyard and cellar management. In 2006, Matteo, who was only 21 years old, joined his father in managing the company and in 2008, after a further expansion of the cellar, the volumes of bulk must and bottled wine increased and the company became a leader in the production and bottling of Moscato d'asti.  Over time, our company has achieved an extraordinary level of quality thanks to the expansion of modern oenological technologies. In particular, that linked to the cold chain, which has allowed the wine to preserve the aromas and flavors of the grapes and at the same time stabilize the product by facilitating its storage and transportation. The Moscato bianco grape variety has a long history across the Italian peninsula. They have been grown for centuries, dating back to Roman times. The name Muscat comes from the term musk or musk, in honor of the higher aromaticity of the muscat. Moscato can be found in other parts of Italy, such as the southern island of Pantelleria, known as "Moscato di Pantelleria" and in Sicily, known as "Moscato di Siracusa", and even in other parts of the world. What sets Moscato Bianco apart from other grape varieties? The subsoil is important, the color of the soil is ideal, which should be whiter, for a purer color in the grapes, and the altitude, moderate temperatures, which help with the harvest. A delicate, unique taste that is light and lively and emphasizes sweet and fruity flavors. Moscato Bianco can be made dry, but the sweet version is much more popular. When visiting northwestern Italy, there is a good chance that you will see a vineyard that grows this wine.
