Grappolo d´oro

The Martincigh family owns the  Grappolo d'oro farm, and has been running its company with determination and simplicity in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli for over 45 years. The vineyards they own extend across the Colli di Spessa, one of the "districts" among the most suitable for growing vines in the entire D.O.C. "Friuli Colli Orientali" area. The company's vineyards, 60% of which are located in a hilly position on terraces, have an ideal south-southwest exposure. The presence of the Julian Alps to the north determines a natural protection from cold winds, while the frequent presence of winds from the east and the proximity of the sea allow you to take advantage of a mild and fresh climate suitable for optimal ripening of the grapes with a significant accumulation of aromas on the grape skins. The company was founded in 1974 with Ennio Martincigh, one of the current owners, who started the business driven by pure passion, but the territory had been cultivated since the times of Roman rule. For the first few years, the company was mainly livestock, wine production was marginal, used only for family needs, then slowly, thanks to the pressure of the first customers who appeared in the company and word of mouth, the demands for wine grew and so Ennio began to plant vines on land that until then had been designated for arable land. Since 1986, the company has been dedicated exclusively to viticulture. Since the 1990s, the company has also benefited from the qualified contribution of Ennio's two children, Donatella and Elvis, and then their families. The company's approach, supported by the innovative winemaking and oenological culture of the children, is based on the constant search for the best quality that can be obtained from the grapes of the Spessa area, while respecting the varietal expressions and the long winemaking tradition of the area. Today, the company is a consolidated reality, spread over 26 hectares of vineyards.
